With the ever-increasing prominence of AI in design workflows, it can be easy to feel that your creative role is diminishing.
And while creatives ought to be judicious in augmenting their workflow, being open to new tools can have many positive outcomes.
By leveraging the right tools for your workflow, you can improve the end product, and unlock more time for living life.
While doing selects for a family portrait session in Adobe Lightroom, I came across a perfect moment that I had captured imperfectly.
A candid moment between mother and child. I had miss-framed the capture, resulting in cropped hair on the child’s head and a crowded upper frame.
Having the ability to push pixels in Photoshop, I could elect to “hand paint” background extension vertically and finesse the cropped hair of the child to save the image.
But this would be an hour or two of work and would put me beyond the limited budget of the photoshoot.
That’s when I thought about trying out Photoshop’s much vaunted AI based image extension feature, to see if I could quickly rescue the photograph.
Here is the process and result below:
And there it is! Photoshop’s generative AI helped me to preserve a great candid moment while expending very little time.
A win-win for efficiency and creativity!
